Most A. Lange & Sohne watches are mechanical with a few select being quartz driven. All Lange watches are made of precious metals rather than steel. The movements of these fine watches are assembled in-house. The company is also a pioneer in watchmaking technology. It developed a rare "double split chronograph" that enables two events to be timed at once. The company also developed the innovative fusee winding mechanism used in certain models.
